INTRODUCTION
uLesen, developed by VeecoTech for the Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP), is a cutting-edge online platform that streamlines the license and permits application process. With its user-friendly interface and innovative features, uLesen revolutionises the way licenses and permits are obtained, offering a seamless and convenient experience for users.
The main objective behind the development of uLesen was to provide an online platform that allows individuals and companies to easily and securely apply for licenses and permits from MBPP.

CHALLENGES
MBPP faced various challenges in the license application process, which have now been effectively addressed through the implementation of the uLesen system. The key challenges that can be highlighted are:
Complex and Time-Consuming Process
The traditional license application process was often convoluted, involving extensive paperwork and multiple visits to MBPP offices. This complexity resulted in a time-consuming process for both applicants and MBPP staff.
Limited Accessibility
The previous system lacked accessibility, as applicants had to physically visit MBPP offices during working hours to submit their applications. This posed challenges for individuals and businesses with time constraints or those located far from the MBPP offices.
Inefficient Communication
The communication between applicants and MBPP staff was limited and hindered by factors such as inconsistent information sharing and limited channels of communication (only via physical appointments and SMS ePublic), resulting in significant delays and frequent misunderstandings leading to public complaints. Additionally, the lack of clear and concise instructions, as well as ambiguous requirements, further exacerbated the challenges faced by the applicants.

With multiple payment options available, such as credit card and online banking, the system provides flexibility to users.
User Profile Dashboard
The User Profile Dashboard is a central hub for applicants, offering a range of features to enhance their experience. Users can easily register for new licenses, upload documents, and track application status in real-time. With a user-friendly interface, the dashboard ensures a seamless and intuitive experience. Key features include the ability to view and download digital certificates for approved licenses, eliminating the need for physical copies. This environmentally-friendly approach allows for easy access and reduces administrative overhead.
